The Calling
Bruno was offered the prestigious position of bishop of Reims, but the exile and the sufferences faced during the sleepless nights spent in the castle of Roucy helped him understand that his destiny could not be active life even if full of pomp and satisfaction. Bruno longs for solitude. He had no idea how important that exile would be for his future. The Order of the Carthusians originates from that experience. He is the leader of a squad of six men. The six go to Ugo, bishop of Grenoble. Bruno relies on his help. Ugo dreamed a mountain full of trees and snow. All at once the trees disappear, in their place he sees a residence dedicated to the Lord, surrounded by seven shining stars.

The stars glittering were the seven pilgrims. They find the wilderness desired by Bruno. They reach an altitude of 1000 metres. Opposite their eyes lies the Charterhouse valley. | ||
